Patient - G. P.

G.P, a 69 years retired male school teacher was suffering from back and neck pain along with gradual weakness in all the 4 limbs. He also suffered from clumsiness, giddiness at hands. He had difficulties in walking and walked with the help of a stick. Even with that, he could hardly walk few meters. He was not able to feed himself in a proper way. He was diagnosed as a case of the cervical myelopathy with serious compression of the spinal cord at C4 to C6 level and spinal canal stenosis at L2 to S1. He consulted several surgeons, in both Kolkata and outside. Ultimately, Dr. Chinmay Nath had operated on his back and neck in the month of October during the year 2010. After the treatment, he got a relief from pain. Gradually, he regained power in all limbs. Now, he can walk without taking any help of the stick and do his daily activities without much difficulty.

Patient - H. I.

H. I., a 15 yr old boy had fallen from a height in the year 2007 with total paralysis of 4 limbs because of fracture in 6th cervical vertebra. Dr Chinmay Nath had functioned on his neck on the coming day. The condition of the patient improved from paralysis and now has got back to normal work within a period of 6 months. Now, he is fit and fine and working as a security guard.

Patient - I. A.

I.A., a young lady of 15 yrs studying in class XI, visited the clinic of Dr Chinmay Nath. She was suffering from painful kyphosis with overhanging implants (screws) from the back because of a failed operation for TB spine. She was told to have anti TB medicines. Dr. Chinmay Nath did spine surgery then detached all the broken screws, corrected her abnormality and fixed the spine again in an improved way. More than a year after surgery, patient is now normal, without any deformity or pain. Her tuberculosis is now cured and now continuing her study.

Patient - J. M.

J. M., a pathologist of 47 years old was suffering from pins and needles’, sensation and legs numbness. He faced difficulty in walking from home to his bus stop. Sciatica, Low back pain, ‘Clinical tests, x-ray and MRI showed he had Spondylolisthesis of L5-S1 vertebra along with nerve root density. Dr Chinmay Nath operated his lumbar spine (TLIF) during the month of November in the year 2011. He became totally fit after the surgery and resumed his job.

Patient - M. B.

M.B. 60 yr old lady, presented to Dr Nath’s clinic with Tuberculosis of Spine involving D9-D10 vertebra with spinal cord compression causing complete paralysis with urine retention. Dr Nath had operated on her spine in September 2011 through her chest, removed the tubercular pus and fixed the spine and bone grafted. Patient was up on her feet after 3 months. now she can walk without any help.

Patient - M. K.

M K a 19 yr old girl, suffering from an adolescent idiopathic scoliosis along with back pain visited the clinic of Dr Nath. She suffered from stiff thoraco –lumbar primary curve of 500. Dr Chinmay Nath operated spine with anterior release as well as anterior correction, all by the thoraco abdominal loom. Patient did not have any problem at the time of or after surgery and had considerable cosmetic enhancement. Her back pain was totally cured.

Patient - B. K.

B. K. a 45 year old man who is also a marketing expert by profession, suffering from low back pain and pain at the left leg which had begun suddenly after bracing heavy weight. He too had weakness in the left leg and was not able to walk properly. He had miscro-discetomy with a vital-hole incision during the month of March in the year 2011.  All the symptoms were reassured instantly after that and he resumed his job after one month.

Patient - A. P.

A. P., a 60 year old lady suffered from laminectomy L5S1 and L4L5 locally somewhere in small hospital during the month of October in the year 2012. After that she was not able to stand or walk because of excruciating the back pain. She was not able to run properly. She did it through retroperitoneal approach, mobilized aorta, and iliac veins and arteries removed infected tissue and at the same time removed all the infected tissues and filled empty space with the titanium plate and bone graft.

Patient - A. L.

AL, a ten year old boy was suffering from severe neck pain in December 2011 and stiffness with total loss of neck movements for fifteen days. He was not able to move his neck but there was no involvement of nerves and paralysis. His father was suffering from tuberculosis. The X-ray spine was normal but the MRI scan shows TB at the C2C3 area with formation of pus. Blood reports, CT guided the FNAC confirmed the diagnosis. He was treated with the help of Anti-TB medicine, total bed rest and brace.

Micro-endoscopic discectomy

Patient - P. G.

Dr. PG an urologist, 73 years old works in NHS, UK came to Kolkata and suffered from an acute attack of pain in the neck during late November in the year 2012. He also had suffered from excruciating pain at the upper back, radiating pain at the right arm, weakness and numbness of right hand.  He consulted various doctors in various hospitals in Kolkata since one month. Some of them say it is cervical spondylosis, some gave suggestions about physiotherapy but he did not get any relief. Then, he came to Dr. Chinmay Nath where he suggested an MRI which shows a large extruded disc from the D1D2 disc space that was the spinal cord’s compression.

Patient - A. C.

A.C., 69 yrs male, came to the clinic of Dr Nath in February 2013 with low back pain for 3 months and leg pain with numbness, paraesthesia and heaviness of both legs. He had neurogenic claudication pain with significant difficulty in walking. He also had heart diseases and a undergone a bypass surgery in 1999. He had an injury to his back due to road accident in January 2011. MRI and X-ray showed spondylolisthesis at L5S1 (fracture like gap in L5 vertebra which causes slip of L5 vertebra from sacrum and pressure on his nerves at back) and spinal canal stenosis L4L5 and L5S1. Dr Nath has operated on his spine, relieved the pressure on his nerves, fixed the vertebra  with screws and rods. Patient started normal activity (for his age) except sitting on floor and lifting weight in 1 month. His is relieved of pain and other symptoms.

Patient - U.G.

U.G. (20 yrs, girl) had back pain with pain and heaviness of chest for 4 months with fever, weight loss and generalized weakness. She was diagnosed of having Pulmonary TB and anti -TB medicines were started by her family physician. Later on, she developed weakness and numbness of legs and could not walk for 15 days. MRI scan on spine and CT scan of chest were done which showed she had TB spine at L2L3 with compression of cauda equina (equivalent of spinal cord at lumbar spine) and huge fluid in her Rt chest. She had fever, anemia (Hb- 8.5 gm%)  and her body weight was 33 kg only. After 1 week of medical treatment, Dr Chinmay Nath had operated on her spine in September 2010. She could be on her feet with help of brace after 3 months. After 8 months, she joined her college and in April 2012 she become completely normal with body weight has become 47 kg.
